Teaneck Teen Idol
LennAsia Harvey wins Teaneck Teen Idol, 2011
“It’s a great night, and the music just keeps getting better and better,” said Anthony Johnson, Channel 7 Eyewitness News reporter and Master of Ceremonies for Teaneck Teen Idol. The 5th Anniversary of the Teaneck Teen Idol contest was held Saturday night, December 10th in the Teaneck High School Auditorium. The evening’s three judges, Jackie Kates, Curry Allen and Audrey Martells, had the difficult task of choosing three finalists from nine exceptionally talented Teaneck teen singers.
Those finalists were Tarek Sharaf, Chiffon DeLoatch and LennAsia Harvey. Each sang a second song after the initial judging, and after that round, the audience voted for Teaneck Teen Idol 2011. Mr. Sharaf was second runner up, Ms. DeLoatch was first runner up and the audience chose LennAsia Harvey to receive the Teaneck Teen Idol award. LennAsia is 15 years old and a freshman at Teaneck High School. She takes over from the 2010 Teen Idol, Sumner Perera, who won when she was 13 and attended The Teaneck Community Charter School. Sumner performed 2 songs for the show.
